Emirates College for Advanced Education Organizes 5th Annual Autism Day

The Emirates College for Advanced Education took part in the global campaign “Light it up Blue,” by lighting the campus building in blue in recognition of the Autism Awareness Month.

The College’s initiatives for this month included the organization of the 5th Annual Autism Day that witnessed the participation of a number of experts and specialists in the field.

Sharifa Yateem – The first Emirati who received the license as an accredited analyst from the Behavior Analyst Certification Board – presented a lecture about dealing with autism spectrum and explained different coping and contribution strategies to improve autistic children. She also spoke about her experience in interacting with Ahmed Al Amoudi, a child with autism, who played the voice over role of the hero of the cartoon series “Pablo”, which is aired by Abu Dhabi Media through Majid channel. The series aims to introduce children and adults to autism and its types.

ECAE Alumni from the Applied Behavior Analysis track participated in the Autism Day through a panel discussion where they shared their experiences in dealing with children with autism throughout their careers.
