Emirates College for Advanced Education Celebrates Labour Day

Emirates College for Advanced Education celebrated International Workers Day also known as 'Labour Day' which is marked on May 1 around the world. The celebration targeted 37 ECAE workers with the aim of showing gratitude for their valuable contributions in driving growth of the college and the nation.

Labor Day activities included the distribution of gifts to workers by ECAE family in appreciation for their work, and concluded with a lunch gathering where ECAE management shared lunch with all workers in a joyful and friendly atmosphere.

ECAE Organizes the 4th Annual Autism Awareness Day

The Emirates College for Advanced Education organized its "4th Annual Autism Awareness Day" in collaboration with Autism Support Network (ASN) and Goals UAE.

ECAE's Autism Day was designed to demonstrate how educational institutions can raise awareness of autism and exchange experiences with the parents of children with autism.

The program included two workshops that targeted parents of children with Autism and their siblings. Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) students at ECAE participated in presenting these workshops and provided information on how certain behaviors and strategies can be used to improve the social and academic skills of children with autism.

ECAE Celebrates "Library Week" with different activities and competitions

The Emirates College for Advanced Education launched its "Library Week" activities which aim to enhance the library's status as one of the most important sources of knowledge and to spread the culture of reading among the community.

ECAE library week activities include a packed program of events and competitions, external speakers, book fairs and displays.

A Librarians Meetup will take place as part of the library week activities, where attendees discuss various reading initiatives and events that took place over the past year and exchange some creative ideas around encouraging readers from outside the traditional user base to use of Library spaces and resources.

Library Week will also host authors and motivational speakers to encourage students at ECAE to be lifelong readers and learners.

The Library Week will conclude with an awards ceremony that honored participating and winning students.

Emirates College for Advanced Education Honors Outstanding Students

The Emirates College for Advanced Education organized a celebration to honor 54 outstanding students from the Bachelor of Education program who attained a cumulative GPA of 3.8 and above. Students were presented with certificates of appreciation during the ceremony to encourage them to continue their outstanding academic achievements.

The celebration was attended by members of senior management, heads of departments, members of the teaching and administrative staff and outstanding students.

Emirates College for Advanced Education organizes the Conference on Parenting Across Cultures

The Emirates College for Advanced Education organized the Conference on Parenting Across Cultures on March 27.

The Conference presents a longitudinal study across nine countries (China; Colombia; Italy; Jordan; Kenya; Philippines; Sweden; Thailand; and United States). It utilizes the most culturally diverse sample ever assembled in history to provide an unprecedented opportunity to understand how biological, cultural and familial processes impact child development and school achievement. Parenting Across Cultures is currently in its ninth year of research. Every year, a higher education institution in one of the participating countries/regions host a conference where the researchers disseminate findings of the research being conducting through this collaborating effort, and this year, ECAE hosted this important event.

Emirates College for Advanced Education Celebrates International Day of Happiness

The Emirates College for Advanced Education celebrated the International Day of Happiness with a number of initiatives and activities as part of the National Happiness and Positivity Programmed, rolled out by the Ministry of Happiness which aims to instill and cultivate the value of positivity and happiness in the community.

During this day, The College organized several activities including sending out SMS messages to all employees and students wishing them a happy day, in addition to organizing competitions.

The event also included the organization of a workshop inspired from the book, "Reflections on Happiness and Positivity", by HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai. The college also distributed happiness cards on cars of all employees and students wishing them a happy journey towards their destinations.

Through these initiatives, ECAE aims to enhance the work environment with positivity and spread happiness and optimism among its employees and students.

These initiatives have earned the admiration of the college’s staff and students, who have enjoyed an atmosphere of happiness and joy.

Emirates College for Advanced Education Organizes Health Awareness Day

The Emirates College for Advanced Education launched the Health Awareness Day Activities, which was organized by the Student Services Department under the slogan “Your Health, Your Choice”. It featured the participation and collaboration of several specialized organizations and institutions in the field of health, in addition to hospitals and medical centers in the UAE.

The aim of the Health Awareness Day is to promote a healthy lifestyle by educating the students and staff with the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle and to disseminate important information on how to prevent common diseases.

ECAE Organizes the 3rd International Conference on Educational Neuroscience in partnership with MOE

Under the patronage of Her Excellency Jameela Bint Salem Mesbeh Al Muhairi, Cabinet Member and Minister of State for Public Education, and in partnership with Ministry of Education (MOE), the Emirates College for Advanced Education (ECAE) organized "The 3rd International Conference on Educational Neuroscience (ICEDN) “under the theme: "The Applications of Neuroscience in Education" at Bab Al Qaser Hotel in Abu Dhabi on 11th and 12th March 2018.

The conference was attended by H.E. Dr. Rabaa Alsumaiti, Assistant Under Secretary of the Quality Development Sector at the Ministry of Education, H.E Dr. Mohamed Yousif Baniyas, Executive Director of Higher Education Sector at Abu Dhabi Department of Education and Knowledge, Dr. Arif Al Hammadi Chairman of Emirates College for Advanced Education, and more than 300 participants from different educational institutions, representing 31 countries from around the world. The conference showcased 36 presentations, 5 of which were from the United Arab Emirates.

The conference fostered exchange and collaboration between cognitive neuroscience, education, psychology, engineering, health, and other fields. Brain science and education were addressed through multiple approaches, ranging from the neural to the social. The conference was a key international gathering of acclaimed scholars with immense opportunities for dialogue, exchange of views, and networking in a productive environment.

Emirates College for Advanced Education Offers Performance Workshop Series for Children with Autism

The Emirates College for Advanced Education (ECAE) organized a Performance Workshop Series in association with Goals UAE as part of its corporate social responsibility to serve the needs of the local community.

ECAE and Goals UAE concluded their series of workshops for this academic semester with great success. Children with autism aged 4-10 years from across the Abu Dhabi community were invited to ECAE to craft a live performance of the much loved book “The Gruffalo” by Julia Donaldson. Over the course of the program which spanned 6 weeks, the children were engaged through a series of sensory, language and movement activities.

A performance for parents and other members of the community was held during the final session. ECAE students volunteered their time to act as Project Leaders and Buddies for each child with autism. The volunteers guided, motivated and encouraged the children throughout each activity.

The Emirates College for Advanced Education (ECAE) has celebrated the 46th UAE National Day with a campus-wide tribute to the heritage and traditions of our great nation.

Through art, music, drama, poetry and cuisine, the College brought together management, staff and students to honor the momentous occasion. The event was attended by Dr. Arif Al Hammadi, Chairman of ECAE Board of Trustees and celebrated the peace, progress and prosperity the country enjoys under the leadership of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, President of the UAE.

The conference was inaugurated by His Excellency Dr. Ahmad bin Abdullah Humaid Belhoul Al Falasi, Cabinet Member and Minister of State for Higher Education and Advanced Skills and was attended by Dr. Arif Al Hammadi Chairman of Emirates College for Advanced Education and more than 350 participants from different educational organizations, representing 40 countries from around the world. The conference showcased 15 presentations, 5 of them from the United Arab Emirates.

The conference was aimed at those working in all sectors of education and training who have a keen interest in advancing their knowledge and skills in educational measurement, evaluation, and assessment. This event was of great interest to educational leaders, policy makers, educators, and researchers. The conference was a key international gathering of acclaimed scholars with immense opportunities for dialogue, exchange of views, and networking in a productive environment.

The Emirates College for Advanced Education Celebrates "Flag Day"

ECAE's faculty, staff and students gathered together to celebrate UAE Flag Day. Participants recited the UAE’s National Anthem and the pledge of allegiance while raising the UAE’s flag in response to the invitation from His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai.

The students expressed their pride in belonging to the UAE and their deep loyalty to the wise leadership of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan - may God protect him - confirming their allegiance and promise to maintain the UAE’s unity.

Under the umbrella of the Department of Education and Knowledge, ADEK, ECAE participated in NAJAH Abu Dhabi Education and Career Fair which was held for three days (25th to 27th October 2017) at Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Center.

ECAE's participation reflects the important role that the education and career fair plays in attracting exceptional students who will make a valuable contribution to the education sector in Abu Dhabi and other Emirates.

During the exhibition, ECAE showcased its post graduate programs and the Continuing Education Centre (CEC) professional development programs.

ECAE and The New England Center for Children - Abu Dhabi sign MoU appendix for NECC-AD Student Internships

The Emirates College for Advanced Education (ECAE) and The New England Center for Children — Abu Dhabi (NECC-AD) signed an appendix of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) that will see NECC-AD students enrolled in a training program at ECAE library during this month. These students will have the job title ‘Library Assistants’ and their duties will include distributing books and stationaries, computer data entry, re-shelving books and magazines, and identifying missing material. These students will work 2 hours per week.

The signing ceremony in Abu Dhabi was attended by Professor Robert Milne, Vice Chancellor of ECAE and Dr. Daniel Gould, Executive Director of NECC-AD. Other executives from NECC-AD and ECAE faculty and administrative staff were present during the ceremony.

The signing of this appendix of the MoU reflects ECAE’s continuous desire to build fruitful and sustainable partnerships and it is in line with the ECAE goal of providing community support. ECAE encourages all efforts to develop the abilities of individuals with autism to participate in various community activities through designing and implementing programs and initiatives to achieve this goal.

ECAE celebrates its Bronze Jubilee under the theme "10 Years of Developing Educators"

Emirates College for Advanced Education (ECAE) celebrated it’s Bronze Jubilee for its establishment under the theme "10 Years of Developing Educators" during a ceremony in the presence of Prof. Dr. Mohamed Yousif Baniyas, Executive Director of Higher Education Sector at Department of Education and Knowledge – Abu Dhabi, Dr. Arif Al Hammadi, Chairman of ECAE Board of Trustees, Professor Robert Milne, ECAE Vice Chancellor, members of senior management, faculty, staff and media representatives.

The ceremony was organized in conjunction with the country's celebration of Teachers' Day to mark the 10th anniversary of the establishment of the College in 2007 under a decree issued by His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE. The college aims to become among the leading educational institutions in the development of teachers and educators, preparing the next generation of highly-qualified Emirati teachers in the UAE.

ECAE Honours  77 Bachelor and Master of Education Graduates

Emirates College for Advanced Education (ECAE) honoured its students who completed the graduation requirements for the academic year 2016/2017 during a ceremony in the presence of Prof. Robert Milne Vice Chancellor of ECAE and other management members, faculty and staff.

During the ceremony, Prof. Robert Milne distributed the official graduation degrees to 77 graduates and congratulated them on passing this important stage in their educational journey, wishing them success in serving their country in their future positions as teachers and educators.

43 Emiratis join the Master of Education program at Emirates College for Advanced Education

The Emirates College for Advanced Education has completed the admission procedures for 43 Emirati students who passed admission tests and entrance exams and were accepted into the Master of Education program for the academic year 2017-2018.

The College welcomed the new students by holding an orientation session dedicated to providing them with all the information they need for a successful educational journey with ECAE. New Students also met with faculty members who introduced them to life at the College, and answered any questions or concerns.

It is worth mentioning that the College had implemented an integrated student recruitment program in collaboration with Department of Education and Knowledge (ADEK), to attract national students to join the Master of Education program. This contributes to the College’s goal of enriching the education sector with qualified Emiratis to support the national agenda of Abu Dhabi Vision 2030. The 2030 vision aims at developing a high quality educational system through the development of knowledge-based economy that depends on knowledge and innovation.

The Emirates College for Advanced Education announced that it continues to accept applications for the Post Graduate Diploma in Education (PGDE) for the academic year 2017-2018 with complete fee waiver for UAE national applicants.

The PGDE is a responsive and flexible program that is aligned with UAE teachers standards and not only provides a route into teaching for those whose first degree is not in education but also offers an option for in-service practitioners without teaching qualifications to refresh their teaching skills.

ECAE provides this programs as part of its commitment to helping advance the economic and industrial growth of the UAE through supporting the Abu Dhabi Government by developing the Emirate’s human capital to be competent and professional and to enable them to positively contribute towards the desired growth and prosperity of the Emirate.

The Post Graduate Diploma in Education (PGDE) Program is a 28 credit-based one year degree program and courses are taught in the evenings during weekdays.

ECAE honors participating schools in the "3D Printing Competition"

The Emirates College for Advanced Education honored the participating schools in the "3D Printing Competition" during an award ceremony held at ECAE campus. The competition was sponsored by the Department of Education and Knowledge (ADEK) as part of ADEK Award for Research Excellence "A2RE" and the first prize went to Al Afaq school in Abu Dhabi.

The ceremony was attended by representatives from the Department of Education and Knowledge (ADEK), students and teachers from participating schools, in addition to members of ECAE senior management, faculty and staff.

The aim of the competition was to promote innovation, encourage students to take part in projects that improve the education system and to support the country's innovation agenda through the implementation of a research project that supports the use of 3D printing technology in the teaching and learning processes of schools.

Teaching candidates receive their completion certificates after a 16-week long intensive teaching program at ECAE

The Emirates College for Advanced Education (ECAE) and Department of Education and Knowledge (ADEK) in partnership with the Abu Dhabi Human Resources Authority (HRA), awarded 26 potential Emirati public school teachers their "Eedad Completion Certificates" during a ceremony to mark their participation in a 16-week-long intensive teaching program.

The initiative is part of the 'Eedad 2017' Program in its 3rd edition, which was launched to provide potential Emirati public school teachers a platform to enroll in teaching positions across public schools in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.

During their intense training program, delivered by ECAE's Continuing Education Centre, candidates were offered the opportunity to develop their teaching skills through participating in learning more about the different teaching techniques, effective practices required in the field of lesson preparation, as well as educational concepts and classroom management.

3rd Annual Autism Day at Emirates College for Advanced Education to Celebrate Autism Awareness Month

The Emirates College for Advanced Education (ECAE) hosted the 3rd Annual Autism Day, in collaboration with Emirates Autism Society (EAS) and United Arab Emirates Applied Behaviour Analysis (UAE-ABA), as part of its corporate social responsibility to serve the needs of the local community. The audience for this event included 40 Arabic-speaking parents of children with autism in Abu Dhabi and undergraduate student teachers completing their Bachelor of Education at ECAE.

During the event two invited speakers presented on autism related topics. The co-founder of UAE-ABA, Ms. Sharifa Yateem, BCBA, offered suggestions for how to get children with autism involved in community based activities, emphasizing the importance of including children on the spectrum into society (insert speaker quote). Ms. Tasneem AbuRoza, BCBA, is the Assistant Director of the Professional Development Department at the New England Center for Children- Abu Dhabi and spoke about fad treatments for autism.

Eight ECAE students also presented on short topics related to ABA, including the importance of using evidence-based treatment, and the power of reinforcement. Students also outlined some practical strategies and encouraged the parents in the audience to create and practice using some tools that could help manage the behaviour of their children with autism at home and in the community.

The purpose of ECAE's second International Conference on Educational Neuroscience is to highlight the educational impact of neuroscience research, by presenting cutting-edge developments in neuroscience that have implications for health and learning. A multidisciplinary approach is taken, looking at the most reliable approaches in cognitive neuroscience, brain imaging, brain plasticity, neuropsychology, health and medicine, and technology.

The conference is designed to promote world-class research and developments in Abu Dhabi, foster international collaborations, and for students to learn from world-experts who are at the fore-front of their fields. The conference will be organized over two days, with talks, poster sessions, e-posters, and workshops.

ECAE's year 4 students commence their internship across "Department of Education and Knowledge (ADEK)" Schools

ECAE's year 4 students commence their internship across Department of Education and Knowledge (ADEK) Schools Seventy-Four Bachelor of Education students at the Emirates College for Advanced Education (ECAE) commenced their 12 weeks internship across 15 Department of Education and Knowledge (ADEK) Cycle 1 schools across Abu Dhabi. These students have spent the past four years learning how to teach English, Mathematics and Science to children in Grades 1 to 5.

This will be the student teachers’ fourth and final practicum experience. In Year 1, students spend two weeks observing in a kindergarten class. In Year 2, students observe a class in a private school for two weeks. In Year 3, students spend 4 weeks observing and teaching in a public ADEK school. During this final internship in Year 4 that begins on January 22nd and finishes on April 27th, student teachers will take full control of the class, meaning they will teach every class expected of an ADEK teacher.

Students are also required to complete an action research project during this internship period, where they will identify and investigate an issue identified by the student teacher that is evident in the classroom or school.

ECAE receives Abu Dhabi Government Contact Centre Award ECAE has achieved second place for the Best Government Entity Responding to the Abu Dhabi Government Contact Centre inquiries for 2015 (under 1000 inquires). The award was presented by His Excellency Rashid Lahej Mansouri, Director General of Abu Dhabi systems & Information Centre during a forum organized by Abu Dhabi Government Contact Centre.

This tribute given to ECAE, was for second place in customer service for government performance indicators for accuracy of responses; latency; comprehensiveness of information. Emirates College for Advanced Education Participates in UAE Innovation Week ECAE participated in the UAE Innovation Week by organizing a series of activities as part of the UAE's National Innovation Strategy launched by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice- President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai. The UAE Innovation Week celebrates the best ideas on innovation from across the government and private sectors.

The Innovation Week at ECAE included student activities, workshops and discussions that spread the culture of innovation among the college students. There was also a display of applications that serve students academically and improve their skills throughout their journey of becoming qualified teachers.

ECAE partners with ADEK for TELS UAE Pilot Project

ECAE partners with ADEK for TELS UAE Pilot Project In alignment with the Teacher and Educational Leadership Standards (TELS) UAE Pilot Project, 400 randomly selected teachers from across the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, are currently undergoing mock tests that will help determine and support the future licensing process for all teachers announced the Department of Education and Knowledge (ADEK).

In order to support teachers on the first TELS mock exam and the success of the project, senior delegates from across different public entities visited the Abu Dhabi-based teachers at ECAE. The delegates included H.E. Dr. Thani Al Muhairi, Director General of the National Qualifications Authority and Chairman of the National Supreme Steering Committee for TELS; Dr. Mohamed Yousif Baniyas, Higher Education Executive Director and Head of the TELS UAE Pilot Project Committee; and Dr. Karima Al Mazroui, P12 Executive Director.

ADEK has partnered with the Emirates College for Advanced Education (ECAE) and its Continuing Education Centre (CEC), to provide an in-school introduction, professional development and testing services for teachers. Following an initial launch of the project in the presence of principals from 17 Schools in September 2016, ECAE’s Continuing Education Centre delivered 29 separate in-school introductory workshops to the 400 pilot teachers. In addition, more than 40 professional development workshops are being delivered to the participants from the different public and private schools as part of the project.

The workshops have been developed by the Centre to align to the TELS UAE professional standards and are being conducted by CEC trainers in Arabic and English. Furthermore, CEC has provided additional support to the project by providing training on work place assessment and verification to ADEK HQ staff and school leaders from the pilot schools.

The Emirates College for Advanced Education Celebrates ''Flag Day'' ECAE’s faculty, staff and students gathered together to celebrate UAE Flag Day. Students. Participants recited the UAE’s National Anthem and the pledge of allegiance while raising the UAE’s flag in response to the invitation from His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai.

ECAE students expressed their pride in belonging to the UAE and their deep loyalty to the wise leadership of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan - may God protect him - confirming their allegiance and promise to maintain the UAE’s unity.

ECAE participates in NAJAH Abu Dhabi

News 66 ECAE participated in NAJAH Abu Dhabi Education and Career Fair which was held for three days (25th to 27th October 2016) at Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Center.

ECAE's participation reflects the important role that the education fairs play in attracting exceptional students who will make a valuable contribution to the education sector in Abu Dhabi and other Emirates. During the exhibition, ECAE showcased The Continuing Education Centre (CEC) professional development programs.

ECAE's Continuing Education Centre has been working closely with ADEK to conduct the TELS UAE Pilot project. Following the launch of the project to Principals from 17 Schools in ADEK, the Centre has delivered 29 separate in-school introductory workshops to 400 teachers. The Centre is now engaged in delivering over 40 professional development workshops for the 400 teachers selected from participating ADEK schools in the public and private sector. The workshops have been aligned to the TELS UAE professional standards. In addition, the Centre partnered with one of the world's leading institutions for testing systems, so as to ensure the implementation of the licensing tests for teachers electronically in accordance with the highest international standards, while providing quality and confidentiality.

In addition, ECAE showcased several STEM Projects including ADEK's Grant Project on 3D printing technology. This research has two main aims; to explore the integration of 3D printing in the teaching and learning in Cycle 1 classrooms, focusing on Science, Math and English subjects; and to investigate teachers’ and students’ perceptions on the ease of use, usefulness, intention and impact of 3D printing on teaching and learning, students' performance, motivation and STEM perceptions.

Awareness Initiative for Parents of Children with Autism

News 65 ECAE's Counselling, Health and Special Education in conjunction with the Autism Support Network – Abu Dhabi (ASN) organized full-day workshop as part of an initiative to raise awareness and empower parents with autistic children by using applied behavioral analysis techniques. The workshop, which is one in a series of workshops, focused on: "Using ABA-based Intervention at Home" which is one of a series of workshops which.

Parents from Abu Dhabi, Al Ain and Dubai were introduced to the most effective research-based practices that reinforce positive behaviors in children with autism both at home and in the community. In addition, participants were provided with specific strategies that can help improve their child’s communication and social skills.

Emirates College for Advanced Education marks the World Teacher's Day

News 64 Emirates College for Advanced Education celebrated World Teacher’s Day and highlighted the contribution teachers make towards the education and development of generations by organizing a series of activities for the students and faculty. These included field visits to several Abu Dhabi schools organized by the White Hands club and Happiness club to honor outstanding, retired Emirati teachers, as well as honoring the teaching faculty at the college. The students renewed their commitment to the Teacher’s pledge which was launched by the college last year.

Students expressed how proud they are to belong to the teaching profession, being granted the honor of preparing future generations and shaping their futures. They also reaffirmed their ambition to contribute to achievement of the vision of the wise leadership in graduating national teachers who model the values and ambitions of the nation. Students expressed their delight at having the opportunity to be an important factor in achieving and developing the educational system plans in UAE.

ECAE and Goals UAE offer Social Activities for Children with autism

News 63 ECAE and Goals UAE launched a major community initiative in support of community engagement and social responsibility.

ECAE and Goals UAE invited young autistic children from across Abu Dhabi aged between 3 and 10 years to participate in a series of six workshops to craft a live performance of the much loved book "We're Going on a Bear Hunt" by Michael Rosen. The six week program will expose the children to a series of sensory, language and movement activities and ECAE Student Volunteers will act as Project Leaders and buddies for each child. Volunteers guide, motivate and encourage children during each activity and lead story-telling circles. There will be a final performance given to the parents of the children who are involved in the initiative to mark the end of the initiative.

The National Qualifications Authority approves ECAE's Centre for Continuing Education as a Recognized Training Provider

News 62 The National Qualifications Authority (NQA) approved ECAE's Continuing Education Centre as a Recognized Training Provider. The approval as a Registered Training Provider was announced during a ceremony held on 20 July 2016 at the NQA's headquarters in Abu Dhabi. The event was attended by H.E. Dr. Thani Ahmed Al Mehairi, NQA's Director General, H.E. Nourah Al Matrooshi, Head of the National Qualifications Framework Department, Dr. Arif Al Hammadi, Chairman of ECAE's Board of Trustees, Prof. Robert Milne ECAE's Acting Vice Chancellor and Mr. Jasim Rajib, ECAE's Director of Support Services.

Registered Training Provider status authorizes the Centre to develop and deliver training programs that leading to National Qualifications which have been approved by NQA as meeting employer needs. Learners of these programs will receive National Qualifications certificated by the Abu Dhabi Centre for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (ACTVET).

ECAE honours the winners of the second edition of ESMAT

News 61 ECAE honoured the winners and participants in the second edition of the College’s Emirates Science and Mathematics Achievement Test (ESMAT) competition, during an award ceremony held at its campus in Abu Dhabi.

The ceremony was attended by Dr. Arif Sultan Al Hammadi, Chairman of ECAE’s Board of Trustees and Professor Dr. Mohammed Yousef Bani Yas, Executive Director of Higher Education at the Department of Education and Knowledge (ADEK). Professor Robert Milne, ECAE’s Acting Vice Chancellor and members of ECAE’s senior management and faculty also attended. ECAE also welcomed managers and supervisors from participating schools, representatives of the Abu Department of Education and Knowledge (ADEK), the winning students and their parents.

Hamed bin Zayed attends ECAE’s Graduation Ceremony

News 60 H.H. Sheikh Hamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Crown Prince's Court attended the graduation ceremony for 363 students who received a Master of Education, Bachelor of Education or Professional Diploma in Education. In particular, the ceremony honored the first class of graduates from the Master of Education Program.

Present were H.E. Hussain bin Ibrahim Al Hammadi - Cabinet Member and Minister of Education, H.E. Dr. Mugheer Khamis Al Khaili - Chairman of Health Authority, H.E. Dr. Ali Rashid Al-Noiami, Director General of the Department of Education and Knowledge (ADEK) and members of the College’s Board of Trustees, teaching faculty and officials from different academic entities.

The theme for the graduation included a book design which embodied a pride in reading consistent with the 2016 as the Year of Reading in the UAE. This theme was part of ECAE’s continued efforts to create a generation of book lovers, consolidating the UAE’s position as a global capital for culture and knowledge.

Sheikh Hamed congratulated the graduates and welcomed them as educators of the future generations who will add their knowledge to further develop the UAE and the education sector.

ECAE Students Develop the first Arabic Website on "Autism"

News 59 ECAE students from the Bachelor of Education: Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) program have developed the first website in Arabic about autism and ABA: (www.autismmiddleeast.com).

The content of the website aims to increase awareness of autism, how to detect it, and ways to deal with children with autism. The website also allows visitors to access a variety of electronic resources that supply information to parents of children with autism, as well as specialists in the field of special education.

The website also brings together a list of autism centres around the Arab world, making it easier for parents to access these centres and take advantage of their services to improve outcomes for their children. The website is frequently updated so that visitors can have access to various events that deal with autism internationally.

Among the topics covered on the website is the "Air Travel" section, which outlines a set of guidelines and tips for parents when traveling with children on the autism spectrum. The section includes a collection of short films that have been translated into Arabic by the ABA students and shows the stages that a child with autism may go through while traveling by plane, highlighting the challenges and stress the children may experience when traveling through airports.

ECAE Launches new Doctoral Programs

News 58 ECAE launched its new Doctoral Programs during a press conference held on campus in Abu Dhabi.

The Doctor of Education (Ed.D) programs are designed to prepare graduates to be leading practitioners with an in-depth knowledge of a specialized field of education. The programs also provide an opportunity for doctoral candidates to conduct original research to improve educational practice and influence policy.

The Ed.D. programs open a wide range of opportunities for candidates, including careers in leadership positions in P-12 educational agencies, government, and higher education institutions. Graduates will also be able to pursue careers in research and development organizations, as well as business and industry.

The two Ed.D. programs launched are in Educational Technology or Leadership. They are designed for experienced professionals in education or related areas who want to improve their knowledge and practice.

ECAE's International Week

News 57 ECAE hosted a week of international activities for the 2016 International Week. The event included the participation of 14 different nations that showcased a range of cultural diversity through cuisine and folkloric performances.

The International Week is considered one of ECAE’s largest and most anticipated annual events, attracting a large crowd of students, faculty, staff as well as individual from the community all celebrating the rich cultural diversity at ECAE. Participating nations included the UAE, UK, Netherlands, Sudan, Palestine, Jordan, Egypt, India and many more.

International Week is an opportunity to provide education in a fun environment on globalization and its impact. The event also reinforces the spirit of cooperation and is a celebration of the differences that overcome tribal, racial and ethnic differences. It is a forum where staff and faculty meet with their colleagues and peers, exchange dialogue and sample on anothers cultures.

The event was attended by H.E. Frank J.M. Mollen, Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to the United Arab Emirates. The Ambassador honoured ECAE by visiting Kingdom of the Netherlands stand and toured the campus facilities.

Annual Autism Awareness Day 2016

News 56 ECAE’s Counseling Health & Special Education Division organized its “2nd Annual ECAE Autism Awareness Day" in collaboration with undergraduate students currently enrolled in the Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) track.

ECAE’s Autism Day was designed to demonstrate how educational institutions can raise awareness of autism and exchange experiences with the parents of children with autism.

The program included a lecture on the Autism Spectrum delivered by an autism specialist from Zayed Higher Organization for Humanitarian Care and Special Need. The lecture provided information on how certain behaviours and strategies can be used to improve the social and academic skills of children with autism. The event also included student poster displays showcasing the results of some research they had conducted.

ECAE Announces Doctoral Programs at NAJAH Al Ain Education and Career Fair

335 students participate in the second edition of Emirates Science and Mathematics Achievement Test (ESMAT)

News 54 ECAE launched the second Emirates Science and Mathematics Test (ESMAT). The event was attended by approximately 335 Grade 9 public school students from Abu Dhabi.

The competition is one of the many initiatives that ECAE has developed in conjunction with the Department of Education and Knowledge (ADEK) to stimulate interest in the areas of Science and Mathematics.

Participating students expressed their excitement about the competition and how it had made them more interested in scientific subjects, especially science and mathematics. Teachers accompanying the students also praised ECAE for organizing such an initiative, pointing to the distinctive results and positive impact the competition has on student performance.

The results of the competition will be announced in June during an award ceremony, where prizes totalling 60,000 AED will be awarded for the highest achievers.

ECAE organizes "The 1st International Conference on Educational Neuroscience"

News 53 ECAE organized the "The 1st International Conference on Educational Neuroscience" under the theme: "The Applications of Neuroscience in Education" at Fairmont Bab Al Bahr Hotel in Abu Dhabi for two consecutive days.

The purpose of the conference was to bridge the gap between education and neuroscience. It offered an outstanding venue for neuroscientists, educationalists, and psychologists to present emerging findings in the field of brain, mind and education; and to learn from experts, collaborate with peers, and explore new tools and technologies.

The conference showcased a series of presentations that unite exciting topics in neuroscience, ranging from how we learn, language development, how we perceive information and make decisions, genetics and Autism, and enhancing brain activity.

ECAE's 3rd Alumni Social Gathering

News 52 More than 250 ECAE graduates and students attended the 3rd Alumni Social Gathering which reunited classmates and colleagues from across the UAE.

The event saw former students gather on the Colleges' campus to meet their professors, old friends, and fellow graduates in a social event that celebrated the success and achievements of the Alumni.

In addition to activities organized for the all at the event, ECAE honoured its Alumni who had actively participated in the Alumni Office activities throughout the year.

ECAE Launches Health Week Activities

News 51 ECAE launched the Health Week Activities, which was organized by the Student Services Department under the slogan "Health is Wealth."

A number of specialized organizations and institutions in the field of health participated in the week’s events. The Health Week was designed to provide information to staff and students about healthy lifestyles. The range of events included free medical check-ups, as well as the distribution of health guidance brochures and booklets. The Abu Dhabi Blood Bank also organized a blood donation campaign that coincided with the Health Week which encouraged a spirit of participation.

The Emirate College for Advanced Education Launches "The Reading Majlis" and Announces the Winners of the ECAE Reading Challenge

News 50 The Emirates College for Advanced Education launched the 'Reading Majlis' as part of its activities to encourage reading within the College community.

The 'Reading Majlis' comes in support of the initiative launched by His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan who declared 2016 the 'Year of Reading' in the UAE. The 'Year of Reading' in the UAE aims to create a generation of book lovers and consolidate the UAE's position as a global capital for culture and knowledge.

ECAE’s 'Reading Majlis' was established by the Student Services Department to spread a culture of reading among College students as well as develop their research and analytical skills. The 'Reading Majlis' is open to all College members who can participate in reading activities in different languages and across a range of topics. The initiative also provides an excellent opportunity for all to engage in reading sessions to discuss books they have read.

The 'Reading Majlis' has set a goal of reading 100 books in 2016. The College intends to expand this initiative to provide cultural seminars and lectures, including courses in speed reading and literary analysis.

ECAE also hosts a reading challenge at the start of each academic semester to assist in the development of the students' skills in the fields of analytical thinking, criticism and expression. ECAE is this year planning to honour those students who participated in the challenge as part of the 'Year of Reading' initiative.

ECAE organizes the second Emirates Science and Mathematics Achievement Test (ESMAT 2016)

News 49 ECAE organized a workshop on the “Principles of Scientific Research” attended by grade 10 students from Abdelqader Al Jazaeri School in Abu Dhabi.

The competition has been designed for Grade 9 students in Abu Dhabi’s public schools and aims to develop talent among pupils in the areas of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM). The competition will consist of a test entitled Emirates Science and Mathematics Achievement Test (ESMAT). The ESMAT uses a creative approach to testing knowledge in these areas and in creating awareness among students, which will encourage them to become professionals in the science and engineering fields.

In 2015, ECAE organized the first ESMAT competition which was a great success with 281 students from 33 public schools participating. The competition this year will be open to all Grade 9 students in Abu Dhabi public schools and students will have the option of attending a center located in either Abu Dhabi or Al Ain.

Principles of Scientific Research Workshop

News 48 ECAE organized a workshop on the “Principles of Scientific Research” attended by grade 10 students from Abdelqader Al Jazaeri School in Abu Dhabi.

This workshop was organized in support of the overall partnership with the Department of Education and Knowledge (ADEK) which focuses on developing the educational sector and the educational process through all of its stages. The workshop is also part of the college's continuous efforts to support schools and urge students to understand the importance of scientific research as one of the most important tools leading to a successful nation.

ECAE Organizes Commemoration Day Event

News 47 In honour of the UAE's Commemoration Day, ECAE lowered the UAE flag to mark the occasion. In remembrance of those who sacrificed their lives for the UAE the College also held a minute's silence followed by the recitation of the UAE's National Anthem and the raising of the UAE's flag.

Students, staff and faculty expressed solidarity with the UAE’s Armed Forces by taking part in planting of the "Martyrs Palm" in honour of the brave martyrs who symbolize the UAE's pride and dignity.

ECAE Celebrates 44th UAE National Day

News 46 ECAE celebrated the 44th UAE National Day with a campus-wide tribute to the heritage and traditions of the UAE nation.

Through art, music, drama, poetry and cuisine, the College brought together citizens and residents of the UAE to commemorate the momentous occasion and to celebrate the country’s peace, progress and prosperity, under the leadership of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, President of the UAE.

The annual event organized by ECAE recognized the spirit of the union and celebrated the past, present and future of the UAE. Distinguished students expressed national pride through a range of original works and students had the opportunity to express "pride of their past" with a play produced especially for the occasion.

News 43 ECAE was proud to organize an initiative in association with Goals UAE as part of its corporate social responsibility to serve the needs of the local community.

Children with autism aged between 5 and 10 years of age, from the Abu Dhabi community were invited to the College to participate in yoga sessions followed by story-telling activities. ECAE student volunteers acted as a buddy to each child, helping them to participating in each of the activities.

Sheikh Mohammed urged all government offices to raise the flag at noon on Tuesday 3rd November and reaffirm their allegiance to the nation.

ECAE Students Sign A New Teachers' Pledge Inspired By HH Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed’s Letter To Teachers

Inspired by HH Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, future teachers at ECAE have taken a vow that aligns with the principles in his highness's letter to teachers.

Future teachers studying at ECAE have wholeheartedly pledged to loyally work to help build the Emirati people and prepare qualified future generations. The students also vowed to help others to develop themselves and strengthen national identity. In their vow, the future teachers have also promised to enhance the skills and the scientific capabilities of Emiratis and keep pace with the technical developments to ensure a sustainable society that contributes to a bright future for their beloved country.

ECAE also organized a number of activities inspired by the principles highlighted in H.H Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan’s letter to teachers. These included a number of lectures, activities and workshops designed to stress the importance of the professional development of future teachers in order to enable them to become the leaders of educational development in the UAE.

ECAE celebrates World Teachers' Day

The Emirates College for Advanced Education (ECAE) organized a series of activities in celebration of "World Teachers’ Day".

This year's Teacher's Day activities were inspired by the principles contained in the message of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, which also asserted the pivotal role of teachers in the upbringing of generations and building societies.

The celebration program also included activities for students and faculty in addition to field visits and events honouring the college faculty.

ECAE Students Celebrate Eid Al Adha

The Emirates College for Advanced Education (ECAE) in collaboration with the college Student Clubs organized a set of activities as part of Eid Al Adha Celebrations. The event was designed to highlight the importance of community engagement and societal interaction among the student community.

Eid Al Adha Celebrations included a series of traditional, cultural activities as well as lectures and workshops focussing on the importance of volunteering. Students were also encouraged to extend their involved with community events and become emulate the UAE’s values of social responsibility.

The event was organized with the support of the "UAE Heritage" and "Ataa" clubs and was attended by ECAE students, faculty and staff.

ECAE Student Clubs Exhibition

The Emirates College for Advanced Education (ECAE) organized an exhibition for student clubs under the slogan "Be creative and fly with your talent". A number of ECAE clubs participated in the exhibition, including The Emirates Heritage Club, The Photography Club and The Environmental Club. The exhibition was designed to highlight the various student clubs within the College and promote the benefits of participation in their activities.

The Clubs involved in the exhibition covered a range of topics including science, culture, artistic and social but all shared the theme of supporting the college academic programs. In addition to existing clubs, three new Student Clubs were launched: The Innovation Club, The Talent Club, and The Health and Sports Club.

ECAE welcomes 270 new Emirati Students

ECAE welcomed 270 new Emirati Students to the College at orientation events organized at the end of August 2015. These students will join the College’s undergraduate program with a view to becoming teachers of the future, or form the second cohort of graduate students who wish to expand their skills, knowledge and experience in the field of education.

The students were recruited as part of an integrated plan, in collaboration with the Department of Education and Knowledge (ADEK), as part of a strategy to attract UAE Nationals into the field of education. The recruitment strategy was also designed to enhance the skills of existing practitioners and meet the ambitions of the Abu Dhabi Vision 2030.

ECAE Honours Maths and Science Competition Winners

ECAE honoured the winners and participants who took part in the College’s first Emirates Mathematics and Science Achievement Test (ESMAT).

The ceremony was attended by Dr. Arif Sultan Al Hammadi, Chairman of ECAE’s Board of Trustees, Dr. Mohammed Yousif Baniyas, Academic Affairs Adviser at the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and Prof. Robert Milne, ECAE Acting Vice Chancellor along with managers and supervisors from participating schools, representatives of the Department of Education and Knowledge (ADEK), the winning students and their parents.

The winner of the mathematics category was Rami Abdul Rauf Daud from Abdul Jalil Al Fahim school in Abu Dhabi, and in Science category the winner was Mohammed Abdullah Aweys from Baynunah School in the Western Region of Abu Dhabi .

The winning students of each category were awarded a prize of AED10,000.

ECAE hosts the "4th International Conference on Communications and Information Technology" under the Theme "Innovative Learning: Open Access Web and Mobile Technology"

ECAE in collaboration with the Western University (Canada), hosted the "4th International Conference on Communications and Information Technology (ICCIT-2015)" at the Yas Viceroy. The conference focussed on "Innovative Learning Open Access Web and Mobile Technology" and proved an excellent platform for the exchange of ideas on the latest development in innovative learning, communications and information technology.

The ceremonial opening of the Conference was attended by Prof. Dr. Mohammed Yousif Baniyas, Adviser of the Academic Affairs at the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Arif Al Hammadi, Chairman of ECAE’s Board of Trustees and Honorary Conference Chair, Prof. Robert Milne, Acting Vice Chancellor (ECAE), Prof. Jalal Karam, General Co-Chairs, as well as ECAE Senior Management, Academics and Administrative Staff, ECAE students, representatives from the Department of Education and Knowledge (ADEK).

Research papers and presentation sessions covered several essentials topics including: Teaching Management and Research, Academic Accreditation, Networks, ICT Next Generation, and Wireless Communications as well as Sumudu Transform.

The Conference is an annual international event organized by different educational institutions, and has been previously been hosted in the Lebanese Republic, Tunisian Republic and Kingdom of Morocco. The event in May marked the first time that the conference had been organized and hosted in the United Arab Emirates.

ECAE organizes "1st Annual ECAE Autism Day"

ECAE’s Health and Special Education Department organized its "1st Annual ECAE Autism Day" under the theme: "Behavioural Strategies for People with Autism". ECAE’s Autism Day was designed to demonstrate how educational institutions can raise awareness of autism and provide a forum for the exchange experiences with parents of children with autism.

The Autism Day was attended by more than 80 participants from across the UAE, including autism specialist and parents of children with autism. The program included workshops delivered by autism specialists which provided information on how certain behaviours and strategies can be used to improve the social and academic skills of children with autism. The event also included round table discussions during which parents shared their views and experiences with other attendees.

Students participate in Emirates Science and Mathematics Achievement Test (ESMAT) Competition

Around 300 grade nine students based in Abu Dhabi public schools participated in the ECAE’s first Emirates Science and Mathematics Achievement Test (ESMAT) competition. The competition is one of the College initiatives, developed in conjunction with the Department of Education and Knowledge (ADEK), to stimulate interest in the areas of Science and Mathematics.

ECAE Participates in the Al Ain Education and Career Fair

ECAE was honoured to participate the seventh Al Ain Education and Career Fair held in the Al Ain Convention Centre under the patronage of H.E. Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan.

ECAE’s participation reflects the important role that the Education and Career Fair plays in attracting extraordinary students who will make a valuable contribution to the education sector in Abu Dhabi and other Emirates.

ECAE and Salama bint Hamdan Al Nahyan Foundation organize an educational lecture on "Becoming a Parent"

ECAE and the Salama bint Hamdan Al Nahyan Foundation hosted a lecture entitled “Becoming a Parent” to encourage students to enrich their social skills and knowledge.

The lecture is part a series of educational lectures organized by the Foundations' Parenting Program as a part of their Early Childhood Development (ECD) initiative. The initiative consists of engaging parenting talks and parenting classes offered by world leaders in the field. This program is designed to support and empower parents and others caring for young children. It also provides provide information on best practices that promote healthy outcomes for children.

The lecture was presented by Professor Ross Thompson, from the University of California, Davis. Professor Thompson is a distinguished Professor of Psychology and an internationally recognized expert on infant and family development. The lecture focused on how families develop, why they are important, and what parents should know about their relationships with their children.

ECAE Celebrates Mother’s Day

ECAE students led the celebration for Mother’s Day with a range of different activities, opening with an operetta by students from Al Dubianya school entitled "My Dear Mother". The event also included the student honor-roll appreciation and concluded with an appreciation for students' mothers with distinguished academic achievements.

As part of the celebrations ECAE’s students organized a charity bazar to raise money for Syrian mothers through the Red Cresecent’s “Tarahamo” campaign.

ECAE and the New England Centre for Children-Abu Dhabi sign a Memorandum of Understanding

The Emirates College for Advanced Education (ECAE) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the New England Centre for Children — Abu Dhabi (NECC) to support collaboration in the development and design of academic programs in the field of special education and autism. The MoU was signed by NECC Chief Executive Officer and Founder, Mr. Vincent Strully, Jr. on behalf of NECC- Abu Dhabi, and Professor Robert Milne, Acting Vice Chancellor of ECAE.

The MoU commits both entities to collaborate in research as well as delivering professional development activities in relation to autism. Both organizations share a common interest in enhancing the skills and experience within the Emirate of Abu Dhabi in relation to Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA).

This MoU is a significant step in providing more personnel with the knowledge and skills to improve the lives of the children with autism and their families. The agreement also provides opportunities for intensive practicum placement for ECAE students enrolled in the Applied Behavior Analysis concentration.

The signing ceremony was attended by H.E. Mohammed Salem Al Dhaheri, Executive Director of School Operations at Department of Education and Knowledge (ADEK), specialized professionals in autism and special needs from NECC- Abu Dhabi, as well as teachers and academic professionals from ADEK.

ECAE launches Competition to Stimulate Interest in Science and Mathematics

Emirates College for Advanced Education (ECAE) is organizing a competition for pupils based in Abu Dhabi public schools to stimulate interest in the areas of Science and Mathematics. This initiative has been developed to further the ambitions of the Abu Dhabi Economic Vision 2030 which focuses on engineering, aerospace, information technology, medicine, applied science, tourism and business. This ECAE initiative also complements other activities organized by educational authorities and is scheduled to take place in Term 3, 2015.

The competition has been designed for Grade 9 students in Abu Dhabi’s public schools and aims to develop talents among Emirati pupils in the areas of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM). The competition will consist of a test entitled Emirates Science and Mathematics Achievement Test (ESMAT). The ESMAT uses a creative approach to testing knowledge in these areas and in creating awareness among students, which will encourage them to become professionals in the science and engineering fields.

The first ESMAT competition will be open to all Grade 9 students in Abu Dhabi public schools who wish to participate and registration will be free. High scoring pupils will be awarded medals, prizes and certificates from ECAE in recognition of their participation and achievements. ECAE plans to extend the competition to private schools in the future.

ECAE and UM5A sign a Memorandum of Understanding to establish educational collaboration

The Emirates College for Advanced Education (ECAE) and Mohammed V Agdal University (UM5A) signed a Memorandum of Understanding to support and strengthen the relationship between the two parties.

The event took place at the Department of Education and Knowledge (ADEK) and was signed by Prof. Dr. Mohamed Yousif Baniyas, Vice Chancellor- ECAE and Prof. Dr. Farouq Hamada, Vice Chancellor, UM5A. The event was attended by Dr. Amal Al Qubaisi, the Director General of ADEK and Dr. Arif Al Hammadi, Chairman of ECAE Board of Trustees along with Dr. Mohammed Matar Al Kaabi, Chairman UM5A Board of Trustees.

The MoU establishes a partnership between the two Universities involving the exchange of knowledge to achieve the UAE’s leader’s vision in creating excellence in the field of education. It also focuses on academic areas where exchanging academic expertise as well as faculty and students. Moreover, it provides a basis for cooperation in the continuous education as well as academic and scientific researches to support the preparation of highly experienced Emirati graduates who will play an important role in the future progress of education in the country.

ECAE and the University of Florida sign a Memorandum of Understanding to Support educational objectives in the UAE

An MoU between Emirates College for Advanced Education (ECAE) and University of Florida (UF) was signed today to create cooperation between the two institutions in a range of areas, including professional development, academic and research interchange, exchange of faculty and students and joint research activities and publications.

UF was represented by Prof. Don Pemberton, Director of University of Florida Lastinger Center for Learning and ECAE was represented by Mr. Abdulaziz Al Raeesi, the Director of Professional Development Center and Director Support Services and the signing was in the presence of ECAE Vice-Chancellor, Professor Mohamed Yousif Baniyas and Associate Dean, UF Professor Thomas Dana.

The MoU represents part of ECAE's continual effort in establishing formal links with reputable overseas universities. The synergy created enhances the professional and academic development of ECAE and its partner institutions for the benefit of staff and students.

ECAE and ACER sign a Memorandum of Understanding to support education in the UAE

ECAE under the leadership of Prof. Mohamed Yousif Baniyas has formed a strategic partnership with the Australian Council for Educational Research (ACER). In signing a Memorandum of Understanding between ECAE and ACER, Prof. Mohamed and Dr. Elizabeth Hartnell-Young put in place the framework which will underpin future collaboration in the areas of assessment and evaluation as well as professional development.

ECAE welcomes Dr. Amal Al Qubaisi, Director General of ADEK

Dr. Arif Al Hamadi, Chairman of ECAE’s Board of Trustees and Prof. Mohamed Yousif Baniyas, ECAE Vice Chancellor were delighted to welcome Dr. Amal Al Qubaisi, Director General of ADEK and members of ADEK’s senior management to ECAE. Dr. Amal was delighted to hear about ECAE’s plans for the future and emphasized the important role that ECAE has in preparing Emirati Initial Teachers and undertaking professional development activities.

ECAE Hosts First Research Forum

Prof. Dr. Mohammed Yousif Baniyas, ECAE Vice Chancellor and ADEK Higher Education Advisor, ADEK welcomed esteemed guests to ECAE’s first “Faculty Research Forum”. Attendees included Dr. Robert Milne, Dean Academic speakers from Higher Colleges of Technology (HCT) as well as members of ECAE’s faculty and staff.
In introducing the Research Forum, Prof. Dr. Mohammed Yousif Baniyas stated that, "The main objectives of the forum is to demonstrate the role of the research office and identify those research priorities that are related to the important educational issues for the region". Prof. Mohamed went on to say that: "the College is expending a huge effort in encouraging scientific research as we are looking to inaugurate three specialized research centres by the start of the next Academic year 2014-15. The three centres to be launched are the Educational Policy and Practice Centre, the Educational Technology Centre and, the Educational Neuroscience Centre. The Educational Neuroscience centre is being established in partnership with other educational institutions such as Khalifa University for Science, Technology and Research as it aims to conduct research into physiological knowledge in education and learning."

ECAE launches the first "Virtual Classrooms" in the Arab World

ECAE has launched the first ‘Virtual Classroom’ in the Arab World at a recent media event. The ‘virtual classroom’ provides ECAE students with the opportunity to practice their skills on a group of ‘virtual pupils’ who have a range of personalities and learning needs. The simulation program allows student’s performance to be evaluated on-line and for a report to be produced and sent to ECAE so that strengths can be identified along with any areas for improvement.

ECAE Anti-drugs Campaign: Safe Society…Free of drugs

ECAE has organized a drug awareness campaign in conjunction with the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research (MOHESR). The campaign will highlight the dangers of drugs as well as the damaging impact these can have on the lives of individuals and their families; information also includes the impact that drugs have on the health of the nation.

ECAE Students inspire health and active lifestyle

A group of female students took advantage of the new sports facilities at ECAE to organize an exciting range of sports activities to encourage their fellow students, ECAE faculty and staff to live a more health and active life. The organizers were delighted by the turn out and expressed their hope that those who attended will continue to participate in the many sports covered during the activities.

ADEK Director General Visits ECAE Stand at first UAE Education Interface in Al Ain

ECAE was honoured when HH Dr. Amal Al Qubaisi, Director General of ADEK visited the College’s stand during the first UAE Education Interface held in Al Ain on 7 May 2014. ECAE was invited to participate in the conference not only to raise awareness of the need for qualified educationalists, but also to encourage admissions to College programs so that the Emirate had a supply of educational professionals committed to the advancement of education in the Emirate.

ECAE was honoured to yet again be invited to support the Abu Dhabi Book Fair. In support of the event students from the College set up a Creativity Corner which, much to the delight of participants, hands on activities in which they could become involved.

ECAE and Mohammed V University support Excellence and Creation in Teaching

Prof. Mohamed Yousif Baniyas, Vice Chancellor of ECAE was pleased to welcome Prof. Dr. Farouk Hamada, Director of Mohammed V University, and Religious Advisor to the Diwan of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi to ECAE’s campus. During his visit Prof. Dr. Farouk delivered an interesting lecture on the need for teachers to nurture creativity and problem solving in future generations.

ECAE Students' Contributions Recognized by the Emirates Thalassemia Society

ECAE students were delighted to be recognized for their achievements in support of the Emirates Thalassemia Society campaign “What is Thalassemia?”. ECAE students participating in the campaign were presented with individual awards in recognition of their achievements in supporting the campaign. The students were also delighted to receive an award on behalf of the College for its continuing support of the Society.

ECAE raises awareness of the Corona Virus

In support of the Abu Dhabi Health Authority (HAAD) education series, ECAE has ensured its students are informed about the Corona Virus. Along with information on the lecture series, ECAE provided students with information on the measures that can be taken to avoid contracting the virus as well as preventing its spread.

ECAE Student Health Awareness Club holds International Earth Day Competition

ECAE students in the Health Awareness Club ran an International Earth Day competition for the school children who were visiting the College during the celebrations. The school children thoroughly enjoyed the experience as they tried to answer all the competition questions in order to receive the top award.

ECAE delivers workshops in support of the Abu Dhabi Reads Campaign

ECAE prepared for the upcoming ‘Abu Dhabi Reads’ Campaign organized by the Department of Education and Knowledge (ADEK), by putting in place a series of educational events for Cycle 1 and Secondary school level pupils entitled ‘Enjoy Reading’. These events complemented the campaign in creating a culture of reading for enjoyment and promoting literacy across the community.

A delegation led by Prof. Dr. Mohamed Yousif Baniyas from ECAE participated in the American Educational Research Association Annual Conference to establish research networks and raise awareness of the College on the international academic stage.

ECAE, as part of commitment to healthy living in the Emirate, launched a health awareness week and welcomed specialists from public and private medical facilities to talk about healthy living through diet along with preventative measures for common illnesses.

ECAE welcomes delegation from Fujairah’s Education and Academic Affairs Welfare Council

Prof. Dr. Mohamed Yousif Baniyas, Prof. Robert Milne and Mr. Abdul Aziz Al Raeesi were delighted to welcome Mr. Rashid Obeid Al Hafeeti, Council President, and Prof. Abbdulhaleem Al Madani, Director of Research Studies to ECAE. The delegates explored how the College and Council can forge a bilateral cooperation agreement to promote educational advancement within the emirate.

ECAE Students Support Qasr Al Hosn Festival

Prof. Mohamed Yousif Baniyas, ECAE Vice Chancellor, expressed his pride at the active role of ECAE’s students at the Qasr Al Hosn Festival where they acted as guides and ambassadors for the Festival. ECAE’s students gave talks on Emirati culture and guided the visitors through the history of the Emirate and Abu Dhabi much to the delight of those in attendance. ECAE enjoys the role of educational partner for the Festival and Prof. Mohamed stressed the importance that ECAE places on community support events such as this, particularly in promoting a wider understanding of Emirati Culture and History. Prof. Mohamed also highlighted the importance for the College students in participating in the event as an opportunity to demonstrate and practice their communication skills and raise their confidence in public speaking and presentation.

ECAE launches a Career Development Centre

ECAE has launched a new Career Development Centre (CDC) to support students and alumni in learning new skills, enhancing their marketability in the workplace. The CDC will run a series of workshops between February and May 2013 and these will cover a range of topics including: work ethics, communication skills, public speaking and presentation, strategies for dealing with special needs in the UAE.

ECAE Students Complete First Aider Training

ECAE was honored to welcome the UAE Red Crescent to its campus as part of ECAE’s program to extend the skills of its students in preparation for joining the workforce. ECAE students were shown how to deal with a range of emergency situations and how to perform CPR correctly.

ECAE organizes ‘Smart Money’ Lectures in partnership with the Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank

ECAE partnered with the Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank (ADIB) to ensure that its students were aware of the strategies they could use in managing their money. Mr. Hassan Al Nuwais, ADIB’s Marketing Manager covered a range of topics including effective budgeting and saving strategies, investments and building wealth as well as debt management strategies. Prof. Mohamed Yousif Baniyas, ECAE Vice Chancellor, welcomed the lecture and stressed the importance of managing money effectively particularly when entering the workplace on graduation.

ECAE Students host ‘Children’s Day’ for Al Radwan Kindergarten

ECAE Students were delighted to have the opportunity to organize and host a ‘Children’s Day’ for the Al Radwan Kindergarten. The kindergarten children were delighted by the range of events and activities organized and particularly enjoyed the educational literacy and mathematics activities. The College Students had created games and activities that enabled the children to show how they could work together, along with some activities that encouraged a little bit of competition. The children were also treated to more traditional entertainment including face painting skills – ECAE students and Al Radwan Kindergarten were delighted with the outcome of such a fun day for the children.

ECAE Alumni Celebrate

ECAE organized the first meeting of its Alumni, to celebrate their achievements. ECAE’s Alumni was extremely supportive of the event and enjoyed sharing their experiences and hearing about the College’s future plans.
