ECAE offers graduate programs which are designed to meet the needs of the education community. All graduate programs are accredited by the Commission for Academic Accreditation.
The Postgraduate Diploma in Education program is a responsive and flexible one year modular program that is aligned with Level 8 in the UAE Qualification Framework - QF Emirates. It not only provides a route into teaching for those whose first degree is not in education but also offers an option for in-service practitioners without teaching qualifications to refresh their teaching skills. The Postgraduate Diploma in Education consists of mandatory courses which total 28 credits.
The Master of Education (M.Ed.) Program is a 36 credit-based two year degree program aligned with Level 9 in the UAE Qualification Framework - QF Emirates. The M.Ed. is offered over four semesters, and the final semester includes either a capstone project or a research project. The program focuses on Education practitioners, leaders, administrators and professionals in a broad range of field and is also suitable for other professionals whose work has an educational component or some educational responsibility. The Ph.D. Program is a 60 credit-based Doctoral program at QF Level 10 offered over four years. With strong theoretical and research foundation and including a six-credit hour research apprenticeship with exceptional local and international researchers in the field, the Ph.D. students will focus on advancing, extending or even redefining knowledge by developing, conducting and critically applying research to important questions facing the Gulf Region. The Ph.D. focuses on one of the two following concentrations:
Ph.D. in Education: Educational Technology
The Educational Technology program is designed to produce thoughtful and skilled researchers and educational leaders who understand the role that technology plays in educational settings. Graduates will be exposed to the most recent trends, research, technological advances and techniques as well as have the opportunity to interact with experts, leaders, and researchers in the field.
Ph.D. in Education: Educational Neuroscience
The Educational Neuroscience program is designed to advance the science of brain, cognition and education on an international-scale, and to develop practical applications for the community’s cultural and economic needs. This pioneering program celebrates learning diversity; it is the first of its kind in the region and is at the forefront of educational transformation.
The Ed.D. Doctoral program is a 54-credit program at QF Level 10 offered over four years. The program provides graduate students with in-depth knowledge and skills to have broad influence on policy and practice in their organizations. It includes a 12-credit supervised internship and a 6-credit dissertation. Doctoral students undertake a qualifying comprehensive exam after completing all coursework in the specialized field and research methodology. Working with leading faculty in the field, doctoral students conduct research that addresses the most relevant problems in education. The following Two Ed.D. programs are offered:
Doctor of Education (Ed.D.): Leadership
The Ed.D. in Leadership is designed to capitalize on one of the more powerful learning forums available for professional educators-their work settings. Doctoral students participate in actively developing an interface between research, practice, and the unique challenges faced by school environments today.
Doctor of Education (Ed.D.): Educational Technology
The Ed.D. in Educational Technology is designed for professionals in education or related areas who wish to extend and deepen their knowledge of educational and contemporary issues in the field of educational technology. It also prepares graduates to conduct research related to educational technology focused on improving policy, practice and the overall quality of education in their organizations.
