Applications for admissions for the Master of Education (ME.d.) for the Academic Year 2018-19 are now Open.
The application deadline for the M.Ed. Program is as follows:

  • April 15th, 2018 for Early Admissions
    Notification of Acceptance: June 1st, 2018
  • May 31st, 2018
    Notification of Acceptance: July 6th, 2018

When does the academic year begin?

ECAE operates on a two semester academic calendar. In general the first semester starts in August and the second semester the following year in January.

How long does the M.Ed. program take to complete?

The M.Ed. is a 36 credit-based two year degree program aligned with Level 9 in the UAE Qualification Framework – QF Emirates. The M.Ed. is suitable for all education related professionals. The program focuses on education practice, leadership, administration and professionalism in a broad range of fields.

What are the entry requirements?

Candidates of all nationalities may apply for admission to the Master of Education, provided they meet the following criteria:

Full Admission Requirements

  • Hold a recognized baccalaureate degree from an accredited University, earned in a discipline appropriate for the M.Ed. with a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale or its established equivalent.
  • Hold a current International English Language Testing System (IELTS) of 6.0 or equivalent (TOEFL IBT or TOEFL ITP or Pearson PTE Academic or EmSAT) or higher.

Provisional Admission Requirement

  • Hold a recognized baccalaureate degree from an accredited University, earned in a discipline appropriate for the M.Ed. with a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale or its established equivalent.
  • Hold a current International English Language Testing System (IELTS) of 6.0 or equivalent (TOEFL IBT or TOEFL ITP or Pearson PTE Academic or EmSAT) or higher.

Provisional entry students must meet the following requirements during the period of provisional admission or be subject to dismissal:

  • may take a maximum of nine credit hours in the first semester of study;
  • must achieve an overall grade point average of 3.00 on a 4.0 scale, or its established equivalent, in the first nine credit hours of credit-bearing courses studied for the Master's program.

Note: Math and Science tracks

  • Applicants interested in the Math track must hold an undergraduate degree in Mathematics, a Mathematical Science, Engineering or Math Education (or equivalent).
  • Applicants interested in the Science track must hold an undergraduate degree in Science or Science Education (or equivalent).

What are the requirements for Graduating from the M.Ed.?

In order to graduate from the M. Ed., students must have a CGPA of 3.0 or above and have successfully completed 36 credits.

Is ECAE a licensed Institution?

Yes, ECAE is officially licensed from 1 April 2011 by the Ministry of the Higher Education and Scientific Research of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to award degrees in higher education.

Can I transfer credit from prior studies?

Yes, students who have studied in a similar program at another tertiary education may be able to gain credit towards the program at ECAE.

What types of assessments do I have to complete?

The coursework takes a number of different forms to give students practice across a range of different skills, with a combination of oral and written reports. Some courses include a final examination at the end of the semester.

Will I have access to a supervisor during my M.Ed. studies?

Yes, as a M.Ed. student you have the right to a Research Advisor.

Who are my Lecturers and Research Advisors?

The academics within ECAE are leaders within their fields coming from a diverse international background.

Are there eating facilities on campus?

Yes, there is an on-site restaurants and a coffee shop. Also, there are a few vending machines which provide access to snacks and hot beverages.

Is there a Student Representative Council (SRC) on Campus?

Yes, there is a SRC, a student organisation established to improve relationships and understanding. It is coordinated by Student Services and any student may hold office on the Council.
