When is the deadline to apply?

For the Academic Year 2018- 2019, the application deadline for the Ed.D. program, and Ph.D. program is as follows:
  • April 15th, 2018 for Early Admissions. Notification of Acceptance: June 1st, 2018
  • May 31st, 2018. Notification of Acceptance: July 6th, 2018

What is the cost of the program?

The Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) program fees are AED 3,990 per credit. The 54-credit program totals AED 215,460. UAE Nationals are eligible for a tuition waiver. The Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) program fees are AED 3,990 per credit. The 60-credit program totals is AED239,400.

What is the flexibility of coursework?

Doctoral students will move through the program in a cohort-based model to allow completion in seven semesters or three and one half years.

How long will it take to complete my degree?

The Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) is a three and one half year program of study. It is expected that full-time graduate students will be enrolled for a period of no less than seven semesters and no more than seven academic years. The Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) is a four year program of study. It is expected that students will be enrolled on a full time basis for a period of no less than four years, and no more than 7 academic years.

Can I attend the program part-time?

No. The program will be delivered over seven semesters; however, it is designed to accommodate working professionals. Courses are held during the evening and on Saturday.

What career options will I have once I complete my degree?

The Ed.D. program opens a wide range of opportunities, including careers and leadership positions in P-12 education agencies, the government, and higher education institutions. Graduates can also pursue careers in research and development organizations, as well as business and industry.

The Ph.D. program in Educational Neuroscience prepares individuals for careers in research, teaching, educational policy, administration, and programs, along with opportunities in the health sector and related areas in business, including emerging fields.

What are the benefits of attending ECAE instead of another university?

The Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) in Educational Technology and Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) in Leadership offer specialized core courses in the field and research methods courses to master skills in using and analyzing existing data to plan, make decisions and ultimately make improvements to situations or issues identified in the workplace, in addition to coursework on research methodology and a 6-credit dissertation. The programs are taught by international and experienced faculty, encourage cutting-edge research and prepare graduates to become leaders in the field. The Ed.D in Educational Technology is unique as it will be the first of its kind in the UAE. Research-based leadership doctoral programs are available in the UAE but no institution offers a practice-based Doctoral program which prepares educators to lead schools and innovate.

Are transfer credits accepted?

Transfer credits may be awarded for recent study at another higher education institution subject to submission of a stamped transcript and course description. The decision to award transfer credits will be made by the subject specialist and the Academic Dean after acceptance at the college.

What is the difference between an Ed.D. and Ph.D.?

At ECAE, the Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) is offered to professionals in education or related areas who want to advance their skills and knowledge in the field. It prepares graduates to become scholarly practitioners, with a focus on improving policy and practice in their organizations. The Ph.D. program is seen by ECAE as preparing graduate students for leadership positions as faculty in higher education institutions or researchers in governmental or private settings. Both Ed.D. and Ph.D. programs require a research dissertation and an oral examination.
