Vice Chancellor

Professor Milne received a Ph.D. in Solid State Physics from Cambridge University, England, after gaining a first class degree from Edinburgh University, Scotland, his home country. He then took up a teaching fellowship at the University of British Columbia (UBC) in Vancouver, Canada before returning to Cambridge as a research fellow at the Cavendish Laboratory. He was also a visiting lecturer at the University’s Homerton Teacher Training College. Prior to coming to the UAE in 1995 he worked at Strathclyde University and as a Lecturer and Ph.D. supervisor at Sussex University, UK.

He was appointed Academic Director at Etisalat College and Etisalat University College in Sharjah and after the College was incorporated into Khalifa University he became the Director of Institutional Effectiveness. In 2013 he joined ECAE as advisor to the Vice Chancellor and Dean.

Professor Milne has a long term commitment to education in the UAE. He has been deeply involved in developing academic programs and obtaining groundbreaking national and international accreditation for them thus helping to ensure that the graduates produced have the knowledge and skills to compete on a world stage and further develop UAE as knowledge based economy.
