The Foundation Program is a one year full-time course designed for students who make a transition from High School into tertiary education. Foundation students study English, Mathematics, and Science through the medium of English and are also introduced to Information and Communication Technology (ICT).
The English course builds on students’ existing English language skills. It focuses on general and academic English, effective study habits, and critical thinking in order to prepare students to enter into the first year of the Bachelor of Education program. All four skills, —reading, writing, listening and speaking—are integrated within topic-based units of work.
The Science and Mathematics courses provide students with competencies in the subjects to enable them to continue and study courses designed for the B Ed program. Students will be equipped with comprehension and some application skills at this level. The emphasis is on activity and problem-based approaches to promote enquiry and critical and creative thinking.
