Post Graduate Diploma in Education (PGDE)
The PGDE is a one year full-time (or part-time equivalent professional qualification intended for candidates who have a Bachelors degree with majors/minors that relate to school education in the Abu Dhabi Emirate. The PGDE equips these graduates with a professional teaching qualification relevant for the Government’s Education Development Plan and prepares them to meet an important entry requirement for an M Ed.
The PGDE is a 36-credit program and comprises: four 3-credit courses in Education Studies (Teaching and Classroom Management, Educational Psychology, The Social Context of Teaching and Learning, and Communication Skills for Teachers); a 3-credit course in Information and Communication Technology (ICT) for effective learning; three 3-credit courses in the Curriculum Studies of a specific school subject; and 12 credits for a Practicum Teaching Portfolio that needs to be completed in a school.
