BEd Program
1. High School Certificate (Arts or Science Stream) with an average of 75%+ (or equivalent).
and
2. English language proficiency test:
2.1 IELTS Academic overall band 5.0+ (no restriction on individual skill band).
or
2.2 TOEFL iBT 61+ (no restriction on individual skill band).
or
2.3 Pearson Test of English Academic (PTE A) score of 36 – 41 (no restriction on individual skill band).
3. An interview may also be required
Foundations
1. High School Certificate (Arts or Science Stream) with an average of 75%+ (or equivalent).
and
2. English language proficiency test:
2.1 IELTS Academic overall band 4.5+ (no restriction on individual skill band)
or
2.2 TOEFL iBT 53-60 (no restriction on individual skill band).
or
2.3 Pearson Test of English Academic (PTE A) score of 30 (no restriction on individual skill band).
3. An interview may also be required
NB 1: Applicants who have a High School GPA between 60% - 74% will be required to attend an interview. Favorable consideration will be given if they have studied a post high school qualification at a Higher Education institute.
NB 2: High School Certificate must be dated within the last five years. However, mature applicants may be considered if the applicant completed high school more than 5 years ago and has recently studied at another Higher Education Institute for at least two semesters or produces an IELTS/TOEFL iBT at the required level.
NB 3: Prospective students with strong applications who do not meet the English Proficiency requirement might be eligible to take the Admission Test. They can only be placed in Foundations.
BEd Male Applicants
Male applicants who fall below the above criteria may be permitted to enter the BEd program provisionally. They will take a reduced number of Year 1 credits and must complete Year 1 within four semesters. They will be given extra English tuition.
