Guidelines for Conducting Research
Step 1: Any ECAE Employee (referred to as Applicant from here on) who intends to conduct a research study is required to complete the research proposal form and ethics review form, and submit them to the Chair of the College Research Committee. (Forms are accessed though ECAE’s internal shared network drive).
Step 2: The Research Committee discusses the applicant’s proposal, reaches a consensus on approval, then provides feedback on the proposed study.
Step 3: Upon the Research Committee’s consensus on approval, the research proposal feedback form (Number) is completed. The criteria for providing feedback and approving the research proposal is based on the following items: I) the scientific method or design of the study; ii) contribution to the knowledge base and development of education in the UAE; iii) relevance to the UAE; and iv) its relevance to the social and cultural context of the UAE.
Step 4: After the Research Committee approves the proposal, a copy of the proposal and the Research Committee’s feedback is forwarded to the Dean Academic for signed approval, and then to the Vice Chancellor’s office for final authorization with signature and stamp.
Step 5: A copy of the signed approval from the Vice Chancellor’s office is sent to the applicant via the Research Committee.
Step 6: The applicant may commence the research study only after the final approval is received from the Vice Chancellor’s office, which will have been communicated to the applicant via the Research Committee.
Step 7. If a researcher who is external to ECAE is interested in conducting research at the College, the researcher must contact the Chair of the Research Committee and follow the guidelines involved in conducting the proposed research study.
